ESF Primary Year 1 application

Just received a letter saying my child is placed on a waitlist.
May I ask if anyone know what are the possible scenarios

1) Interviews with guaranteed place
2) Interview with reserved list
3) Waitlist

Is the above scenarios correct?? I want to find out the chances of my child getting an interview if he's on the waitlist. Does that means it's just impossible ??
