Is it difficult to switch to IS after going to local primary school

I'm planning to send my son to local primary school and switch to international school after primary 6. (preferably CIS because we are going back to Toronto for high school/university)
Will the transition be difficult for the child?
Also, will it be difficult to get into an IS because most students started from kindergarten?
