Comment on 耀中國際學校(九龍塘)

Yew Chung has been known for providing good quality of international education and facility and the school charges a considerably high tuition fees for this reputation. My children were Yew Chung students for several years. I decided to pull them out from this so-called “international school” because:

Culturally diverse is very low. Their students spoken English are terribly poor when compared to students of other international schools. My children’s English proficiency has clearly improved after transferring to another international school.

Administration is poor. Letters sent out were always with clear grammatical mistakes. I could sense that it was in a rush. It clearly shows that it’s badly managed. How could a well-known international school deliver notices with easily spottable mistakes!

Bi-lingual International School. When we called the school, we noticed that most staff couldn’t speak good English or Putonghua. We wondered how could the school proclaim itself as a bilingual international school.

Teachers are mostly retirees. I don’t know if this is true. We heard that most of the young talented teachers would leave the school after their contract ended, and that is because most were unhappy by its badly managed organization. That puzzled us as parents. How could we trust the school could nurture our children well! That’s also why several of us decided to transfer our children to other schools that clearly provide a more consistent learning environment for our kids. We were unhappy with the poor arrangement of the school. We were also not satisfied with the learning environment of the school. Why pay a premium price for this local international school when we clearly have better choices for our children elsewhere
